13/11/19 ^^^Putting the lesson of Zen into practice

Suzuki Roshi talked about setting your own path and [] (not) following the teacher.  When you become who you are then everything about you is zazen.  He gave the analogy of a frog.  A frog is always in zazen and it doesn't even think about it.

Therefore I concluded that Zen is about becoming who you are while taking the attitude of not trying too hard to attain it.  We should let it happen as it comes.

In my case I should focus on practicing AHAD and OMAD without having to think about the outcome.  As long as I put in the best effort all the time every time, I should reach my destination.

Same thing with writing this blog.  I should not be concerned of not knowing what to write.  As long as I am on track with AHAD and OMAD, then the ideas will come naturally.

I should be rejoicing that I found this Holy Grail.  That means I am on the right path going towards Health and Happiness.  I should not have fear or worry that I don't have much money and wealth because where I am going I don't require much of both.

Instead I should focus on taking the right actions so that I will continuously achieve AHAD and OMAD for as long as I live.

The reason why I am not producing the desired outcome is because I am not consistent in my effort.  As long as I put in the right effort I will produce the desire outcome.

In short I already know what it takes.  Now I must do.

My weakness is on the execution.  It's not about the soundness of the idea.  In that sense I have the brain of a bodybuilder but the body of Joe Six Pack.  I need to align my thoughts and action together.  How do I do that?  By applying the principle the IF I CAN'T THAN I MUST.

Oh gosh this song is on air:

Hence, Mushin No Shin is thinking without putting the effort in thinking about it.  Even when I write, I should not be thinking about what to write.  It should be an unconscious competent effort.

When I have big ideas, I spend more time writing. If the idea is small I write just a little bit.  No point trying to squeeze water out of rock.  If I have nothing at all to write, I should just read.

If I follow this formula, I can definitely write on any topic and come out with many articles effortlessly.  Writing then become an extension of my thoughts in action.

When I do that writing becomes no writing.  It then becomes an expression of thought.  Rather than having an abstract thought. now my thought is visible to the naked eyes.

No longer I have to juggle with many thoughts but instead my thought is singular and profound.

Definitely that requires discipline.  It is like extracting wine from the grapes.  It is sweet and natural.  Yet it is intoxicating.

I promised you we will talk about Personal Excellence when I come back from lunch.

So here it is...  Personal Excellence is nothing more than the excellence of putting our thoughts into action.  Which means it starts with Quality Thoughts.  That comes from Quality Mind.  Guess where is that coming from?  Quality Body.  Quality Body comes from Quality Food.  That comes from Quality Decisions we make everyday.

How do we make Quality Decision then?  By asking Quality Questions.

Therefore the quality of our lives is pretty much dependent on the quality of questions we ask on daily basis.  Of the questions we got to ask on regular basis, the three most important questions are what, how and why.

What we normally do when we are hungry is [] (ask) what to eat.  What we need to ask next is how and why.  In this case how is a bit redundant.  Certainly we do need the why.  Once we address the why, we then can narrow down on the what.

So basically the basis of our existence is to [] (ask) what and why we eat.  Amazing isn't it?

Brb...  Lizzie is back.
